Wonder, silly putty and a pizza lunch ....

Bonjour!

In case you are wondering, none of the above items have anything in common(!), except that they are all present or upcoming activities in our classroom.
This Friday, December 1st, the kids in our class will be provided with a pizza lunch to thank them for collecting all of the recycling and composting for the school for the past three months on a weekly basis.  Please send enough food for only one nutrition break on that day.
Secondly, we are excited to be able to offer a viewing of the film "Wonder" this upcoming Monday, December 4th at 11:10.  The school has rented out the entire theatre and because of our location, we can walk to the theatre.  Please sign the permission form and hand in the $7 this week.  If your child wants to order popcorn and a drink, he/she will have to order it and pay ahead of time.  I have checked the parental recommendations for the movie and it should be appropriate for children of this age.  It contains a good message about fairness and accepting differences.
Finally, we are asking that students not bring silly putty or plasticene into the classroom, unless it is part of their IEP or unless you write a note indicating that it is needed in order for your child to focus.  It has become a distraction during group learning lessons, a bit of a mess for the custodians and a source of conflict when it is not shared equally among peers.  Thanks so much for your help with this.
Keep checking our blog and class calendar during the month of December, as there are lots of special activities during the month of December at HPS!
  Enjoy the snow!

Mme Lindsay
